AGE 30 – EPISODE 54

I walked towards where his car was parked, but he wasn’t there.

“Where could he be for crying out loud?”

“I hope you didn’t picture me with Ken?”

Those questions went through my mind as I waited beside his car.

“Wait a minute, Larry changes cars often and at the same time, shares most of the car with his twin brother.”

“What if this is Michael?”

“I think it’s wise to call since the center was becoming empty with people moving out.”

I brought out my phone immediately to call Larry, and then he surfaced.

“Oh! Baby, sorry for keeping you waiting,” he said with smiles as he gave me a warm hug.

“It’s alright. Good evening baby,” I greeted.

“I wish you the same, my love. C’mon! Hop in let’s get going,” he replied as he opened the car door for me to enter.

I entered, and he joined me too.

“How was your training today?” he asked as he started the car and drove off immediately.

“Fine baby,” I replied.

“Hmm! You know I love it when you sound that way.”

I giggled at his fantasies with the pet name, ‘baby.’

“Sorry for keeping you waiting, just that I encountered one of your facilitators who was a colleague in the States; so we got talking and was a little carried away,” Larry apologetically said.

“It’s alright, at least I didn’t wait for too long,” I replied.

“Really?”

“Yea…I was only wondering if it was you that came with the car or your twin brother.”

He laughed aloud for some minutes before responding to my comment.

“But baby, we came in this car today naa.”

“I know, but anything is possible with twin brothers,” I replied.

“Yay! I understand. Meanwhile, tell me about your day today,” Larry demanded.

“Nothing special rather than I enjoyed today’s topics and it was educating.”

“Its that all? What about the opportunity to make new friends?” Larry asked.

I felt like giving him a straightforward ‘NO’ as an answer, but I was a bit skeptical.

“Who knows if he saw me with that pest Ken?” I thought to myself.

“Yea but we had little or no time to bond. The only free time was during the break, and everyone was busy with food,” I replied.

“Yea, I can imagine. But I saw you giving a guy your complimentary card earlier,” Larry added.

“Yea, that’s true,” I replied as I was caught off guard.

“Was the contact for business purpose?” Larry asked.

“Not really, I don’t even understand what he wants. He kept pestering me throughout today,” I genuinely replied.

“So why didn’t you ask him what he wanted from you?” Larry further asked.

“Because I didn’t get the time to.”

“Well, you are a pretty woman, no need guessing what he wants,” Larry said with a tone of jealousy.

Suddenly we both went silent on each other for a couple of minutes.

The traffic on the road didn’t make such silence any better.

Larry kept complaining and transferring his jealousy and insecurity attitude to the traffic in PH city.

I kept quiet and allowed him to rant all through.

“Are you hungry so that I can stop by and get you something,” Larry said.

“Not really.”

“So I should take you home straight away?” Larry asked with little uneasiness in his tone.

“Yes dear,” I calmly replied.

At that point, I was very helpless not knowing what to do.

“How can I prove to him that I’m with him, not another.”

“How can I make him secure around me?”

“I thought rich guys have this persona that makes them feel they are in charge.”

“Why is his different?”

“Or am I a special kind of girl to him?”

“Just wondering what is unique about me even when he has made love to me?”

Those were the conflicting thoughts going through my head at that moment.

I had to place my hands on his laps as I confessed my mind to him.

“Baby! I understand your unspoken words.”

“But I want you also to know that I love you and can’t place anyone above you.”

“For your short time in my life, you have done a lot.”

“And it will be foolish of me to pay you back with wickedness.”

“I love you, and I mean it when I say that to you.”

He had to park his car immediately and planted a kiss on my lips.

“You sure know when to say the right words baby.”

“I’m just too scared of losing you to another.”

“Sometimes, I feel the fear so close like today.”

“I promise to handle our challenges as soon as I can.”

“Thanks for your kind words, they really did magic baby.”

Those were his words to me before he drove straight into my street.

Anyone could tell that he felt better after hearing those words from me.

We got to my gate, and he stopped his car.

“I love you, baby,” he said as we exchanged a parting hug.

“I love you too. Good night my love,” I said as I climbed down from his car.

“No good night yet because we will still do that over the phone,” Larry said with smiles as he revised his car and drove off immediately.

I walked into my compound as well.
